Carl Eugene “Gene” Thomas, 72, of Mathews, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

A native of Mathews, he was the youngest child of the late William Walter and Lottie Johnson Thomas.

He was predeceased by a sister, Delores White; brothers, William Jr., Wallace, and Robbie Thomas and “brother,” Maurice Forrest.

He leaves to cherish his memory, brother and sister-in-law, George Winston Sr. and Aretha C. Thomas; “sister,” Roslyn Johnson; aunt, Alice J. Smith; uncle and aunt, James and Lillian Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral service was held Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Susan. Burial was in church cemetery.

Viewing was held Friday, July 26, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
