The first day of spring is March 20, but you don’t have to wait until then to spring out of the house and march over to Machicomoco State Park.
The campgrounds at the park on the York River in Hayes will reopen next Friday, March 7, and with it, the parks interpretive programs will resume on Fridays and Saturdays. All are welcome at the interpretive programs, campers and day guests alike.
The park’s Earth Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. Recognized Tribes of Virginia and other event partners will be helping the park honor its natural resources while the park’s inviting picnic spaces complement food trucks like Hungry Hungry Arrow.
For more information, visit the park’s website at www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/machicomoco or call the park office at 804-642-2419.
