Campaign visit

U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Daniel Gade made a swing through the Middle Peninsula on Saturday afternoon, with campaign stops in Gloucester and Mathews counties. The Republican hopeful who is looking to unseat Sen. Mark Warner in the Nov. 3 general election, first appeared at the DAV Chapter 58 Building. Gade, top photo at center, greets Gary Taylor of the Gloucester DAV chapter prior to his talk. At right, Gade addresses the crowd. After the Gloucester event, he went to the Piankatank Ruritan Club in Hudgins. The campaign stops were sponsored by the two counties’ Republican committees. Gade is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, professor, and public policy leader. During more than 25 years of military service, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. A 1997 West Point graduate, he resides in Alexandria with his wife of 21 years, Wendy, and their three children.
