MAMAW’S POUND CAKE & ICING
Bessie Thomas and Haley Thomas
1 lb. butter
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour
9 eggs
¼ tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. baking powder
Milk (as needed for consistency)
Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in separate bowl. Add flour mixture and eggs (a few at a time) to butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Once everything else is mixed, add milk as necessary for consistency. Divide mixture into greased and floured cake pans. Bake until done.
Chocolate Icing
2 boxes confectioners’ sugar
2 sticks margarine
Evaporated milk as needed (about 1 can)
Hershey’s Cocoa to taste
Vanilla to taste
Cream margarine and sugar. Add vanilla. Once mixed, add milk for consistency and cocoa to taste.
