C. Steven Hogge, Sr. 78, of Hayes, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Dec. 30, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was born April 8, 1933 to the late Joseph and Ida Hogge.
Steve was a member of Providence Baptist Church for over 60 years and served in the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. He loved his God and his family. Steve’s kind, sweet spirit will be greatly missed by everyone.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Edith Kellum and brothers, James, David and Wilmore Hogge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Esther Hogge; daughters, Cheryl Ann Hall-Gutierrez (Reuben), Cindy Hogge (Danny); son, Stevie Hogge (Carmen); four grandchildren, Eric Hall (Jennifer), Brad Hall, Christopher Howder, Peyton Howder; four great-grandchildren, Brooke Lynn Hall, Destiny, Jordan and Colton Howder; four sisters, Margie Davis, Mary Frances Haywood, Thelma Hall, India Hall; four brothers, Ellis Ray Hogge, Lynwood Hogge, Buddy Lee Hogge, Calvin Hogge; a host of nieces and nephews, and his loving feline, Hannah.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton were held 2 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2012 at Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Mattern and the staff of Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for the love and care that they rendered to Steve during his illness and death.
