Arts on Main in Gloucester has a full lineup of activities planned this month, from its first August open studio session on Friday to an exploration of cold wax painting the last week of the month.
Open Studio is held weekly on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. It is free of charge. Artists bring their own supplies and join other artists for a painting session.
First Friday this month will feature the opening of the exhibit “Behind the Page—The Art of the Comic Book” by the young people’s group at Jersey’s Cards & Comics in Gloucester. Over 100 framed drawings show the animation process, videos, stand-up Superheroes on corrugated plastics, and more. There will also be marker boards for interactive activities with children. Entertainment will be by acoustic guitarist Lou Vangieri, aka The LCV Project. Vangieri performs a blend of folk, country swing, pop-rock, traditional, soft jazz, new age, classical and nostalgia.
