Notice: Having installed a telephone in my own home, I wish to request that persons having business with me, call me there, and not at the phone of Mr. U.G. Dillehay as has been their custom. Respectfully, J. Bruce Bennett
The annual election of officers of the Cardinal Athenaeum took place Saturday, Jan. 25. The following list of officers were elected: President, J.W. Minter; 1st Vice-President, E.M. Maxwell; 2nd Vice-President, Mrs. H.J. Fletcher; Secretary and Librarian Miss M.B. Machen; Treasurer, Mrs. F.L. Jordan.
A spirited debate followed, participated in by Mr. Walter P. Smith, Mrs. F.L. Jordan, J.W. Minter and C.M. Raines. The judges were: Miss Elvira Maxwell and Miss Hancock, who decided in favor of the affirmative led by Mr. Smith, who presented some very convincing statistics in favor of woman’s suffrage.
