Broadband in Mathews and the region will be discussed during a program sponsored by the Mathews Broadband Advisory Board beginning at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 19, in the auditorium at Mathews High School.
The public is encouraged to attend either in person or remotely to learn about the board’s plans to ensure that broadband becomes available throughout Mathews.
“From Luxury to Necessity: Bridging the Digital Divide” will be presented by Broadband Telecom Services, the consulting firm working with Mathews, said a press release.
BTS President Jeff Beekhoo and Project Manager and GIS Specialist Tyler Beekhoo will explain the strategies that Mathews and other rural counties can implement to provide broadband access to unserved and underserved residents, said the release.
Among the topics they will discuss are the benefits of broadband, obstacles to connectivity, various technologies used to provide internet, and leveraging broadband infrastructure to create “smart” digital communities.
