A Celebration of Life service for Brittany Truett Newcomb was held on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Ordinary, Va. A reception followed at Union Hall of Union Baptist Church, Hayes, Va. She died Sept. 17, 2014.
Born in Newport News, Brittany was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a 2004 Gloucester High School graduate; she also attended Christopher Newport University.
Brittany is survived by her parents, Brad and Anita Newcomb; her beloved sister and soul mate, Courtney Newcomb; her grandparents, Curtis and Gloria Lett; as well as by aunts/uncles, Leonard and Beth Newcomb, Angela Jenkins, Mark and Terrie Allen, Billy Lett, Debbie Richards, Tim and Vicki Bradt, Curt Lett, and many cousins and friends.
Brittany was an amazing young woman who will be remembered for her infectious smile, loving spirit, kind heart for others, her joy and love of life. As one of Brittany’s lifelong friends said it best, “My fear is that you have been an angel the whole time—just in the flesh. How did we miss it?” We now know she is a true angel who has earned her wings … as an organ donor; her gifts of life will honor her well.
