Doug and Kim Hibbs have made the Courthouse Restaurant one of Gloucester’s favorite places to eat. A patron wrote a glowing review to another publication, saying "We are always greeted by smiles, hugs and warm wishes. The food is good and it’s like being at home."
Getting into the restaurant business was not what Doug and Kim had in mind when Doug retired from the Navy and they moved to Gloucester in 1994. Kim explains how it all came about. "Doug was serving as a sheriff’s deputy in Henrico and I was working with Walmart when one day our son told us about a small restaurant that was for sale in the Court House and he thought we should buy it. Of course my reply was that we knew nothing about the restaurant business, but he thought with my experience of working with people and operating a cash register I could work the front and he would handle the kitchen.
