BrassWind, a classic horn band composed entirely of retired and active-duty military, will perform in a Concerts by the Bay presentation at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. Combining a lively rhythm section with brass instruments and vocals, the Hampton Roads-based BrassWind delivers a variety of popular music, from Motown, R&B, jazz, soul, and funk to the sounds of “The Tower of Power”—Earth, Wind & Fire. There are pieces by Chicago, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and more. Band members, shown at Rhythms on the Riverwalk at Yorktown, are, from left, Eric Musselwhite, Mike Buenvenida, Michael Wells, Curtis Brown, Jordan Witt, Peter Allison, Jake Stith, Katy Whitbeck, Clayton Ives and Jim Lambie. Tickets are $30 at the door, with students admitted free with ID. For more information, visit concertsbythebay.org or email concertsbythebay22@gmail.com.
