Botetourt Lodge receives state award

Botetourt Masonic Lodge No. 7, Gloucester, was presented the James Noah Hill Memorial Award during the annual official visit of Virginia’s Grand Master to the 11th Masonic District, held on Wednesday, March 30, at Oriental Lodge No. 20 in Mathews.
The award, given for exceptional merit in 2021, was presented by James W. Golladay Jr., Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Virginia. It recognizes lodges that demonstrate superior performance in community support, family activities, charity projects, lodge operations, Masonic ritual and education, and a wide variety of other criteria, said a press release. Doug Williams, Botetourt Lodge’s 2021 master, accepted the award.
This is the first time the Botetourt lodge has earned the Hillman Award since its inception in 1971, said the release. But “judging by the high standard of work currently taking place at Botetourt,” said the release, “there is no doubt that a second Hillman Award will be earned next year.”
