Gloucester’s Arts on Main will open an exhibition of the botanical works of illustrator Juliet Kirby during a First Friday reception from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 6.
Kirby is a graduate of the Byam Shaw School of Fine Art and the Central School of Art in London, England. She immigrated to the United States in 1958 and, after bringing up four children, returned to art in 1989 at the New York Botanical Garden, from which she graduated with a Certificate in Botanical Art. She teaches art at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond and at This Century Art Gallery in Williamsburg, where she lives.
Live music will be provided by Narissa Bond. Bond currently performs 60 to 100 shows a year in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest, from coffeehouses to festivals.
