Bonnie Williams, 79, peacefully passed away on March 4, 2024 at her home in Middlesex County, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Vernon Williams; her daughter, Shelley Hodges; son-in-law, Keith Hodges, and her granddaughters, Chloe Hodges and Ella Hodges.

Bonnie dedicated three decades of her life to serving as a steadfast clerk of the school board in Middlesex County, embodying unwavering commitment and integrity in her role. Upon retiring 23 years ago, with the arrival of her granddaughter Chloe, she embraced her new role as a loving grandmother.

A native of Urbanna, Va., and a proud graduate of Middlesex High School, Bonnie’s dedication to her community was evident, particularly in her enthusiastic support of her granddaughters’ athletic pursuits as Lady Chargers. She was a devoted fan of Middlesex County sports throughout her life and her vibrant presence on the sidelines will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beyond her professional and community contributions, Bonnie was a talented amateur photographer whose work graced the pages of numerous publications. She generously shared her skills as the unofficial photographer for her granddaughters’ sports teams, ensuring each family possessed a memorable photograph of their child.

Bonnie’s deep love for animals was evident throughout her life. From her loyal dogs to the graceful horses she adored, and even the mischievous billy goat that followed her to school, she found joy and solace in their company. Riding was more than a hobby; it was a passion that fueled her spirit. Her compassion for animals extended beyond her own pets, leaving a legacy of kindness that touched the hearts of all who crossed her path.

Bonnie, affectionately known as Bonbon to her grandchildren and their friends, possessed a natural gift for connecting with children. With her captivating storytelling and vast repertoire of nursery rhymes, she had a unique ability to captivate and entertain young minds. Beyond her ability to engage with children, Bonnie’s warmth and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her kind spirit and genuine affection enriched the lives of all who crossed her path, leaving behind cherished memories and lasting impressions.
Her legacy of boundless kindness will forever resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her infectious laughter, comforting presence, and countless acts of generosity will be cherished memories for generations to come.
