BONNIE EMERSON

Bonnie Emerson passed away on November 27, 2024. She was able to stay in her home on her own until the final hours.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-laws, Pamela Bunting and husband David and Jennifer Davis and husband Jeffrey; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Kendall Adkins and husband Nick, and Greyson Davis. She is also survived by one brother, John Burton, and several nieces and nephews, Jay Emerson, Jane Porter Burton, Linda Shifflett, Teresa Shifflett, Mike Johnson, Rick Johnson, Wendy Stack, Laurie Herndon, Eric Burton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Emerson; her parents, John and Adelle Burton, her sisters, Christine Wright, Orene Coffman, Sibyl Johnson, and brother, Cyril Burton.

Bonnie was born in Fluvanna County and moved to Orange, Virginia, before meeting Dennis Emerson and settling in Gloucester, Virginia. Bonnie was passionate about people. She was involved in all aspects of the farm and church communities. She drove a school bus for Gloucester County for 32 years. Whether she was driving kids to school, leading a church youth group, or crafting, she gave her all. Upon retiring from the school bus, Bonnie was the first woman on the Board of Zoning Appeals for Gloucester County. She held that position for close to 12 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Bellamy United Methodist Church, Petworth Baptist Church, and was a cornerstone in the Pinetta community.

She loved riding her John Deere Gator and socializing with friends. She will be missed by many.

Visitation will be on December 14 at 1-2 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester, Va. A private burial will be at Bellamy United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue or the American Red Cross.
