Bob “Franklin” Smith, affectionately known to all as “Frankie,” a lifelong resident of Naxera, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born to the late William McKinley and Carrie Pearl Smith, Franklin spent his life following in his father’s footsteps, forging a career as a waterman fishing, crabbing, and oystering.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, yet his greatest passion was that of father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Jim, Jack, Indie, Catherine, Mildred, Susie, Rebecca, and Billy.
Franklin is survived by his brother, Elias “Lossie” Smith (Gloria); his sister, Viola “Mickey” Williams; his three children, Billy Smith (Dori), Chris Smith (Andrew), and Michelle Seaford (Tommy), and his six grandchildren, Cody, Colton, Michael, Brandon, Avery, and Thatcher.
The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Rita Staul, was held at Oak Grove Cemetery off Robins Neck Road in Naxera on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 11 a.m.
Services are under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
