The Northern Neck Sail & Power Squadron is offering educational opportunities for boaters in the coming weeks.
A free seminar, “Winterizing & Introduction to Boat Engine Maintenance,” will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, in the squadron classroom, Chesapeake Commons, 453C N. Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Attendees will learn the basics of winterizing a boat’s engine, cooling, and water systems, as well as other tasks to prepare boats for off-season storage.
A seven-week Boat Handling course is being held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays beginning Sept. 26, also in the squadron classroom.
The course is intended for boaters who want to gain knowledge, skill, and confidence in docking and handling a boat safely. Participants will learn about knots, anchoring, trailering, emergencies, and other seamanship skills.
