The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will continue its discussion on possible long-range planning for future capital needs when the board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the colonial courthouse.
The board has discussed the possibility of using future debt servicing to fund a number of long-range capital projects including the new Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad fire station, new bunkhouses for Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad and the new Gloucester High School sports complex. Depending on the number of projects the board wishes to fund with this method, it may choose to raise real estate tax rates to provide the county with additional borrowing power.
Following a scheduled closed meeting, the board is set to make a decision on either adding this plan to the November ballot as a referendum to gain public input or to broach the subject again next year.
