A plan to convert a vacant seafood processing plant into a working waterfront marina in Gloucester won approval Tuesday night.
Following a public hearing on the matter in the colonial courthouse, the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a Conditional Use Permit application from Aberdene Aquatic LLC for the project.
The property, located at the end of Aberdeen Creek Road, is slightly less than an acre in size. The facility is used by commercial watermen who work on Aberdeen Creek for loading and offloading. The current zoning of the property is SF-1 (single family).
Project details include the repair of the existing bulkheads and boat launch, addition of floating docks and the restoration of the existing building. Installation of indirect dock lighting and cameras is also proposed.
