The Mathews High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams faced off against the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Dragons on Friday evening in a pair of scrimmages at MHS. Mathews won both contests, with the girls coming out on top, 29-12, followed by the boys’ 57-35 victory. The two teams’ regular seasons begin next week. Above, MHS senior Tre Greene goes for a layup.
