Blue Devil fall sports teams get into full swing

The Mathews High School football program begins its regular season this week, with a pair of home games against Middlesex High School.

The jayvee team was scheduled to face off against the Chargers’ jayvees at 6:30 last night. First-year head coach Ryan Wenner and his varsity Devils will take the field at Mathews High School on Friday, for a 7 p.m. game against Middlesex.

The MHS volleyball program, meanwhile, is now in its second week of play following last Thursday’s season opener against Essex. The Lady Devils are on the road tonight against Rappahannock. On Saturday, the girls head to Virginia Beach for the Third Degree Endless Summer Volleyball Tournament.

 

Mathews cross country opened its season last evening at Beaverdam Park with a meet against West Point, King William and Middlesex. Next Wednesday, the team travels to Lancaster for a meet with Essex, King William and the host Red Devils.
