Blois Lawrence Catlett, 74, of Hayes, slipped away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Walter Reed Convalescent Home in Gloucester, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Wiggins Lawrence of Suffolk, Va.
Blois graduated in 1967 from Southwestern High School in Holland, Va. She continued her education at Norfolk State College (University), where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She was employed by Gloucester County Public Schools as an elementary school teacher. She devoted a total of 39 years of service between Botetourt and Abingdon Elementary schools. Blois retired in 2010.

Blois was a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated, Epsilon Eta Chapter, Gloucester, Va. The mission of the sorority is to provide service within the community. She was recently recognized by the Eastern Region and received an award for 40 years of service.

Blois is survived by her husband of 45 years, Benjamin Catlett; one sister, Yvonne Young (Vurnis); three sisters-in-law; five nieces; two great-nieces; one nephew; one great-nephew, and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church, Ordinary, Va. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
