Black Men Cooking returns Saturday

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Eta Chapter, will host its annual Black History Celebration and Black Men Cooking Event from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Bena.
The fee is $50 for adults; $25 for children 12 and under. For more information or tickets, call Sharon Washington at 804-832-3200 or any chapter member for tickets.
The purpose of Black Men Cooking is to focus on the men’s preparation of tasty dishes as well as the celebration of African American history, a release stated. With the proceeds, the Epsilon Eta Chapter provides scholarships to young women and men. There will be approximately 25 chefs participating this year, which is the 13th year for the event.
This year’s special guest is Tony Brothers. Brothers is an American professional basketball referee who works in the National Basketball Association. He has been a referee in the NBA since the 1994-95 season. Now in his 31st year, Brothers has officiated 1,800 regular season games, 200 playoff game...
