Billye Frances Fary Dalton, age 70, a lifelong resident of Gloucester County, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Billye graduated from Gloucester High School in 1971 and studied at Longwood College, graduating from William and Mary College with a degree in Education. She taught in the Gloucester County Public School system until her retirement. She thoroughly enjoyed retirement while camping, RVing with her husband, Michael, and playing bridge with her group every Wednesday. She enjoyed reading, her Bible study friends, and her dogs. But most precious to her was her family.
Parents, William Daniel and Mary Curtis Fary; brother, William D. Fary Jr., and nephew, Thomas Montgomery Pike Fary II, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Michael H. Dalton, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on September 21, 2023; son, Justin C. Dalton and his wife Kelly and their two children, Rilee and Isabella, as well as her son, Lucas B. Dalton and his wife Amanda and their two children, Elijah and Aspen; sisters, Wanda Fary and Susan Finkel, and brother, Tim Fary and wife Robin; nephews, William D. Fary III (Trey) and wife Karin, Tyler Fary and wife Haley, Tim Fary Jr., Christian Fary; and niece, Heather Keyes. Numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great-niece. Billye was a gentle, caring person who wouldn’t hesitate to put other’s needs before her own. Her decision to become an organ donor reflected that part of her soul. She loved teaching and loved the children she taught. She will be missed by so many in the days to come. The family received friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 6- 7:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. In memory of our loved one, contributions may be made to Friends of Gloucester County Animal Control, 6584 Beehive Drive, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
