Billy Saunders Allsbrook, 89, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was born on October 20, 1933 in Williamston, N.C. Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Clyde Gurganus Allsbrook; father, John Henry “Rick” Allsbrook; brother, Johnny Frank Allsbrook, and son, Billy Saunders Allsbrook Jr.
Billy is survived by his wife, Mesa J. Allsbrook; brother, Jerry Rick Allsbrook (Dot); daughter, Emily A. Sipple (Buddy); son, Jay D. Allsbrook, and stepdaughter, Karen Harlow. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jayson L. Allsbrook (Sule), Bernadette M. Sipple, Morgan A. Lively (Zac), and many nieces, nephews, special friends, neighbors, and former co-workers.
Billy was a MP in the U.S. Army, worked in fingerprinting at the FBI, and served 38 years with the Virginia State Police, retiring as Assistant Director of Bureau of Criminal Investigation. During his long and dedicated career, he had many accomplishments, but two that were near and dear to his heart was his being an integral part of forming VSP’s Narcotics Division and starting the DARE program in Virginia.
A Celebration of Billy’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, 1-3 p.m. at the Mathews Yacht Club, 390 Yacht Club Road, Hudgins, Va. 23076.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that, if desired, donations can be made in his memory to The Virginia State Police Association, Emergency Relief Fund, 6944 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23225, or Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, 94 Cricket Hill Road, Hudgins, Va. 23076.
