Bill Jenkins and the Virginia Mountain Boys will be in concert on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Buck’s Store Museum, Bena, starting at 7 p.m.
Jenkins, a singer, songwriter and cross-picking guitarist, and his band will perform authentic music of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, including early bluegrass ballads and original songs.
This legendary band’s natural sound is different. There are no electrical cords going to their instruments and no fancy electronic devices to alter their crystal-clear voices.
In 2014, Jenkins was inducted in the Virginia Hall of Fame, alongside artists such as Wayne Newton, Bruce Hornsby, Pearl Bailey, Mac Wiseman, the Carter Family, Ralph Stanley, the Statler Brothers, bluegrass duo Jim and Jesse, and Patsy Cline.
CDs of the band’s music will be available for purchase at the museum. Tickets for the Oct. 28 concert are $30 and are sold at Buck’s Store (8850 Guinea Road, Hayes) on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or online at www.guineaheritage.org.
