Bill Hudgins GMC will observe its 40th anniversary on May 10. Special sales on new and used cars and trucks this week are being featured in conjunction with the special date.
The key to his success, Hudgins said, has been loyal customers. He said that the internet has changed the way some people shop for vehicles, but he believes that many customers still like the personal touch they get when visiting his dealership, located on George Washington Memorial Highway south of Gloucester Court House.
The auto industry has changed a lot in the last 40 years, with computers leading the way. Hudgins said computer components are important in modern vehicles and computer diagnostic equipment has become common.
Another change at the dealership has been what vehicles he carries. Through the years, Hudgins said his dealership has sold new automotive vehicles by Oldsmobile and Pontiac (both discontinued) and Subaru, and he once sold personal watercraft and all-terrain vehicles.
