The J. Flave Marchant Co. just received a big lot 5 and 10 cents goods from a New York house and is now preparing for a big reduction sale in all their departments. If you want bargains give them a call.
There was a delightful outing given on Thursday afternoon last in honor of Dr. J. W. Porter of Newport News. Mr. Penn Lewis on that afternoon steamed up to the landing at the house of Mr. L. Smither and took on board the doctor, Mr. L. Smither, Mrs. Ollie Lear and the Misses Allie and Alma Lear. Among the others of the party were Mr. Frank Hudgins, Mrs. Edna Brooks, Miss Pearl Sadler and Miss Ethel Thompson. They had a delightful sail and all returned to their homes early and in good spirits to listen to the doctor’s lecture at the Old Baptist Church that evening.
