Big fish are biting around the bay and speckled trout citations led the way in this week’s report from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. The following residents recently received citations for speckled trout catches:
Shari French of Hayes, 5-pound, 10-ounce fish caught June 8 in Mobjack Bay;
Neil Marshall of Gloucester, 5-3 fish caught June 7 in Ware River;
James Tillage of Gloucester Point, 5-15 fish caught June 7 in North River;
Douglas Purcell of Gloucester, 24.5-inch fish caught June 7 in North River, and released;
Norman French of Hayes, 6-7 fish caught June 6 in Mobjack Bay;
Gene Hudgins of North, 5-11 fish caught May 29 in North River;
Glenn Timberlake of Port Haywood, 24.5-inch fish caught May 26 at New Point Comfort, and released;
David B. Gayle of Bohannon, 7-8 fish caught May 24 in North River;
Michael Wayne Seger of Hayes, 7-10 fish caught May 21 in North River;
