Betty Smith Nichols, 69, of Hayes, left her earthly home and entered her Heavenly home Jan. 6, 2015.
She was born to Joseph and Audrey M. Smith on Nov. 17, 1945. Betty was a member of Union Baptist Church.
She enjoyed working outside in her flowers and keeping her yard immaculate. Family and friends were Betty’s passion and delight, and having lunch with her friends. Betty had the best sense of humor, loved to laugh and really just enjoyed being around people. She was an outgoing, fun-loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Nichols III, and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Philip Nichols, Brian Nichols and wife Windy, and Drew Nichols; her daughter, Shannon Furbee and husband David; grandchildren, Caitlin, Grant and Mason; sister, Carol Adams; special friend Starr Belvin, and a host of many friends.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Union Baptist Church. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden. The family received friends Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
