The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office raised $1,000 during the department’s No Shave November campaign, with the money going to various nonprofit cancer research organizations. Those contributing included Sheriff Mark Barrick, John and Linda Caperton, Henry and Melissa Crawford, Jimbo Croxton, Joe Betz, Josh Faison, Sid Foster, Frank Crotty, John Williams, Brian Hill, Catherine Fritzius, Travis and Holly Smith, Carmen Chatterton, Michael Primack, Sidney Stewart Harris, April Edwards and Virginia Marine Contracting, Inc. MCSO Deputy Brian Hill, above, was the winner of this year’s Best Beard contest for his no shave efforts. “As always, we want to thank the citizens of Mathews County who always show support for our office, you all are amazing,” a release from the MCSO stated.
