Bernice Kathleen McKemy Blackwell, age 85, of Bristow, Va., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Heathcote Health Center, Haymarket, Va.

Bernice was born August 6, 1926 in Lexington, Va., daughter of the late Ira Clarence and Lula (Hart) McKemy.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James Elmer Blackwell and infant son, Timothy Eugene.

Survivors include three children, Ronald Blackwell and wife Judith and Deborah Klonowski and husband Rick of Manassas, and Carolyn Blackwell-Stark and husband Damon Stark of Warrenton, Va.; two brothers, Leon McKemy and wife Joan and Richard McKemy and wife Hilda, all of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, Lisa, Gabriel, Leigh Ann, Bobby, Eric and Alena and four great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home, 714 South Main Street, Lexington, Va. 24450 where services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012. Interment followed at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kerrs Creek, Va.
