Bernard Lee “Tinky” Smith Jr., of Gloucester, went to his Heavenly home Dec. 22, 2014 at the age of 72.
Tinky spent 45 years as an auto mechanic and painter operating Smith’s Auto Repair.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. Tinky never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He was a great mentor and teacher to many. He loved his Lord, his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him, Poppop, Grandy and Granddaddy, and many friends.
We will miss him, but his memories will live in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Lee Smith Sr.; mother, Alice C. Braun, and great- nephew, Jesse Belcher.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debra Smith; daughters, Tracie Coates and husband Wilford and Michelle Smith and fiancé Michael Marsh; sons, Kevin Smith and wife Violet and Kenneth L. Weber and wife Leslie; stepfather, Donald Braun; sister, Rachel Smith; along with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nephews, Billy Joe and Larry Belcher, and great-nephew, Andy.
Funeral services conducted by Pastor Frank Boyd were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Rock Church, 3515 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Hayes, Va. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family greeted friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 1-2 o’clock at the church.
