A graveside service for Bernard Lee Gwyn, 76, of Newport News, will be held at 3 p.m. today in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. He died Nov. 28, 2013.
Mr. Gwyn was born in Gloucester County. He received his associate’s degree in drafting and design through the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. He was employed with the shipyard and with Gibbs and Cox for more than 50 years as a marine designer and designing engineer supervisor.
He also worked with one of his brothers, Boyd Gwyn, owner of Gwyn Realty, as a licensed Realtor for a few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Blanche Deal Gwyn and his son, Bradford Ashe Gwyn.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gerda Eleanor Gwyn; his children, Christopher and Teresa; his brother, John Gwyn and his sister, Elsie Dame.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. today at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill West.
