Margaret Benton-Jones is December’s featured artist at the Bay School Community Arts Center, 279 Main Street, Mathews.
Benton-Jones’s primary medium is acrylic, and she enjoys painting all subjects on a daily basis, from sailboats to sunflowers, using bright colors and bold brush strokes. She said she loves expressing her enthusiasm for life on canvas and admires many artists, including Van Gogh and Monet.
She said her art “transports me to a place where time has no value … In my paintings, I interpret places I have been or dreamed of going and hope to lift the viewers’ spirits.”
Benton-Jones’s collection includes original holiday art cards, Christmas ornaments, small works, and mini paintings, as well as larger work.
