Benjamin H. Harris Jr., age 81, of Hayes, died on March 13, 2024 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Ben was very patriotic and retired from the Naval Weapons Station, served in the Air Force for four years, two of which were spent in Alaska. He was part of the black-powder shooting team, the Mosby Rangers, and then the Swamp Rats, Civil War reenactment, collecting Civil War memorabilia, nature photography, relicing, and Sons of the American Revolution, as well as Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Sr. and Ruby Marshall Harris. Ben is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Harris; son, Matthew Harris (Crystal); grandchildren, Nicholas Harris, Scarlett Harris, Nathan Harris, Savannah Harris, and brother, Ronnie Harris. The family received friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. A graveside service followed, conducted by the Rev. Richard Croxton, at 1 p.m. in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
