Beginner Wheel Throwing offered regularly at Bay School

Beginner Wheel Throwing is being offered on a continuing basis at The Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.
Potter Brenda Mahoney is teaching classes in six-week sessions, beginning May 17 and ending Dec. 14. The first session, which lasts through June 21, will be held from 1-4 p.m. each Friday. This course is for any age, and the cost is $300.
Beginning students will learn to mold a ball of clay and shape it into various objects such as bowls, mugs, cylinders, etc. Students with more experience will learn techniques to make more complicated forms and improve their skills.
Students are instructed to bring a bucket, towel, and tools to class. There will be tools available, if needed. Class members will be able to use the Bay School’s open studio time to practice what they’ve learned.
Subsequent sessions will be held variously on Fridays or Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. or on Wednesdays from 6-8:30 p.m., with the Wednesday sessions costing $255.
