The 23rd Beaverdam Canoe Jam was held Aug. 8 at Beaverdam Park with paddlers competing on the four-mile Long Course and the two-mile Short Course. The four-person fun sprint was not conducted due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Mike Robinson of Fredericksburg won the Long Course one-person recreational canoe class with a time of 41:41. Kirk Havens of Plainview won the Long Course one-person cruiser canoe class with a time of 38:15 and Kade Havens of Plainview had a time of 38:19.
Robinson also won the Short Course recreational canoe class with a time of 15:38. The Short Course cruiser two-man class was won by Kirk Havens and Kade Havens in 14:30 while Ernest Schillinger of Williamsburg and Jim Sharp of Gloucester had a time of 18:50.
The cruiser two-woman class was won by Elizabeth McCardle-Bunk and Kayleigh Adamson of Virginia Beach in 22:13 and the Short Course adult and child class was won by Ed Sharp and Danni Knott of Gloucester.
