Mathews High School celebrated homecoming last week, with every day a special day for students to dress up and have fun. On “Throwback Thursday,” this group of seniors recreated the famous photo of the Beach Boys with Cameron Stearns, Carson Brown, Brandon Gandee, Grayson Camp and Dylan White, from left, holding a classic Dewey Weber longboard provided by teacher Steve Casper. Just about everyone in the school participated in Spirit Week, and got into the competition. During the week, extra points were also awarded to four students who rode their horses to school for “Wild West Wednesday.” The horses were stuffed, but the students’ commitment to spirit was recognized. The seniors were the recipients of this year’s Spirit Week stick, which was presented at the start of Friday’s homecoming football game.
