Be prepared when faced with addiction

Addiction is a harsh reality for many individuals around the world. According to the CDC, in 2022, 54.6 million people were in need of treatment for substance abuse.
Gloucester and Mathews are no exception to the struggle individuals face where addiction is concerned. Master Center for Addiction Medicine, a physician-led addiction treatment program, has a branch located here in Gloucester, dedicated to offering accessible, understandable, and affordable addiction treatment.
When asked if support from loved ones made a noticeable difference in the treatment process, Andreas Bienert, Ph.D., LCP, CSAC, and Chief Clinical Officer for Gloucester’s MCAM, stated that professionals do “notice a big difference within the patient’s treatment experience when the patient is surrounded by a supportive community in the form of family members or friends.”
