The Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews is offering a number of classes during January to start off the new year.
Making a shabby chic faux paper flower wreath from old books will be the subject of a class taught from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Some books will be available, but students are asked to bring additional ones if they have them. Taught by Jennifer Schroeder, the class is for ages 18 and older. The cost is $45.
Classes on beginner wheel throwing begin in January, one taught from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from Jan. 17 to Feb. 28, and the other taught from 1-4 p.m. on Fridays from Jan. 19 to Feb. 23. Students will learn to mold a ball of clay and shape it into various objects, while students with prior experience will learn more complicated forms and improve their skills. Each student should bring a bucket, towel and tools. Tools will be available on-site, as well. The class is for ages 18 and older. The cost is $255.
