Bass, pickerel and crappie being caught at Beaverdam

Largemouth bass, chain pickerel and black crappie are keeping anglers coming back to the Beaverdam Reservoir, according to park ranger Elizabeth Keefer.
Keefer said a fisherman caught three bass from his boat last week, with one weighing six pounds, three ounces. There have also been reports of yellow and white perch being hooked from boats. The water temperature has reached 46 degrees.
Beaverdam Park is open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Saturday and from Sunday through the rest of the month the hours are 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Live minnows and night crawlers are available at the Ranger Station for $2.50 per dozen and boat, kayak and canoe rentals are also available. For more information call the Ranger Station at 804-693-2107.
