Barbara Mae Colwell, 78, died at her residence in Hayes, Va., on Oct. 23, 2013.

Her professional career included service as a nurse in the United States Air Force, where she achieved the rank of captain, and various private nursing capacities in the greater Norfolk area.

She is survived by her children, Paul E. Colwell of Hayes, and Dr. Robert F. Colwell Jr. of Omaha, Neb., and three granddaughters, Nancy, Lexie and Lauryn.

A remembrance ceremony conducted by the Rev. Arthur Wolz Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2013 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.

Inurnment will be private.
