Barbara Cable Feild of Hudgins, died in her home on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012.
Barbara was born in Torrington, Conn., and as a child, lived in Stafford Springs, Storrs, and Niantic, Conn.
She was the daughter of the late Leland Beach Cable and Lucille Vidou Cable.
She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 60 years, Judge Herbert Iverson Lewis Feild. She is also survived by daughter, Carole Feild Osvalds; son-in-law, Viesturs Osvalds; grandsons, Eriks Iverson Osvalds and Nikolas Jurjans Osvalds; a daughter, Jane Lewis Feild; grandson, Cable Skyren Feild, and her beloved cat, Miss Kitty.
Barbara was a graduate of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. Her longest and most rewarding teaching position was as a French teacher at Gloucester High School. While at Gloucester High School, she led trips with many of her students to France, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and England. She was a devoted teacher and spent many hours tutoring and mentoring students outside of school. She loved Paris and all things related to France and the French culture.
Barbara was a long-time member of Ware Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Mission Committee, Altar Guild, Cemetery Guild, Episcopal Church Women, and a Sunday school teacher.
Barbara was a very loving, giving wife; mother, grandmother, and generous friend to many. She will be terribly missed.
Services were held at Ware Episcopal Church on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. with a reception following in the church fellowship hall.
