The Abingdon Ruritan Club recently made a $3,000 donation to Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Public Services Committee Chair Raven Cash, second from left, presented the check to AVFR business manager Heather Eason, at left, paramedic Travis Waters and EMT Danielle Hughes. The Abingdon Fire and Rescue building is open and staffed 24/7 and their mission is to provide emergency fire and rescue care, public education, fire prevention services necessary to protect the lives and property of the residents, property owners, and visitors of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue district.
