Auditions for the Court House Players’ fall comedy, “Duck Hunter Shoots Angel” by Mitch Albom, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 27 and 28, at Cobbs Creek Arts Center, 61 Cobbs Creek Lane, Cobbs Creek.
The show is the story of two bumbling Alabama brothers who have never shot a duck but think they shot an angel. As they lament their fates in a murky swamp, they are chased by a tabloid journalist and his reluctant photographer, who don’t believe any of it—until feathers, wings, and a tiara are discovered along the way.
There are parts for seven men and two women, as follows: Sandy, a male tabloid journalist in his late 30s to 40s; Lenny, an African American male photographer in his 20s to 40s; Lester, a tabloid publisher and classic “nepo baby” in his 30s; Duane—a southern duck hunter in his 20s to 40s; Duwell, Duane’s brother, also a duck hunter; Woman, a southerner in her late 20s; Kansas, a female teenager; and Gator Man Creature, half human, half all...
