A reception for the opening of the seventh annual Art Speaks on the Bay Juried Exhibition will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Bay School Community Arts Center, 279 Main Street, Mathews. The public is invited.
The show will feature 84 Virginia artists and will run from April 27-May 27. Artist Janly Jaggard will serve as both juror and judge of the show.
As juror, Jaggard selected 69 two-dimensional and 15 three-dimensional pieces from 320 entries to be featured in the show. The works represent a diverse collection in over 20 distinct media.
At the opening reception, Jaggard will select 12 winning pieces from the group and will award cash prizes to the artists. This year, the Best in Show award honors Jim and Amanda Taylor, longtime volunteers of the Bay School, said the release. The $1,500 award was donated by Friends of the Taylors.
