Arts on Main to showcase folk/pop singer Julie Clark

Folk/pop singer Julie Clark will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Arts on Main in Gloucester. The show opens a new series of performances by local singer/songwriters at the Main Street gallery.
Clark has won a number of awards for her music, including first place in the Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition. Past winners in that competition include Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin.
She was also awarded first place in the Great American Song Contest, folk/acoustic category, and was named Folk/Acoustic Artist of the Year at the Virginia Music Awards. In addition, she has received numerous honors in The John Lennon International Songwriting Competition.
Clark maintains a studio at her home in Hampton and tours extensively up and down the East Coast.
