Arts on Main to host ‘Poetry of Persistence’ exhibit

Butterfly Whispers by Erlene Hendrix is among the pieces that will be on display in the “Poetry of Persistence” exhibit during First Friday on Feb. 7 at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
Arts on Main will open the exhibit “The Poetry of Persistence” during First Friday, to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester. It is free and open to the public.
The exhibition offers a look through the lens of five female photographers who use both visual and written communication to explore the theme of persistence, said a press release.
Featured artists include Asiya Al-sharabi of Richmond, Erlene Hendrix of Chesterfield, Helen Jones of Norfolk, Sue Maida of Williamsburg, and Cait Layton, Associate Professor of Photography at Thomas Nelson Community College. Each artist interprets the theme of persistence through both photographs and words.
