Arts on Main exhibit celebrates‘Dog Days of Summer’

“The Dog Days of Summer,” an exhibit featuring images of pets by six artists, opens with a reception from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, during First Friday at Arts on Main in Gloucester. It is free and open to the public.
Featured artists are Rebecca West, Victoria Watson, Stacey Posner, Harriet McGee, Theresa Wells Stifel, Robert J. Schuler and Tenley Raithel.
Arts on Main has partnered with the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society to help raise awareness and money for their summer fundraiser, Dog Days of Summer, said a press release. Society members will be at this First Friday opening with animals that are available for adoption. Along with the artwork created by the exhibit’s featured artists, paintings made by shelter animals will be available for purchase by donation.
Live music will be provided by singer-songwriter Jerry Sowers of Newport News. A cash bar will be serving beer and wine, and food will be available.The exhibit will be on display through Aug. 26.
